The Repeal of RCW 26.10 (Third-Party Custody) took place January 1, 2021. The Uniform Guardianship Act 11.130 (Article 2) came into effect at the same time, replacing third-party custody proceedings with a Minor Guardianship Custody action.
Guardianships are established and maintained in Superior Court. The Administrative Office of the Courts provides model forms for minor guardianship. Benton-Franklin Counties require the use of state forms when one is available. The link for these model forms is: http://www.courts.wa.gov/forms/
If the Court determines your case requires appointment of a Court Visitor or Guardian ad Litem, please contact the GAL/Court Visitor Registry Manager for a list of the next 3 names off the registry.
